
Denver International Airport is an international airport serving the city of Denver. Due to location the airport continually ranks within the top 10 busiest airports in the United States and top 20 across the world.
The airport replaced Stapleton International Airport when it opened in 1995. Upon completion the airport became the largest by overall land size in the western hemisphere and second largest in the world.
The airport features a unique tent shape roof that is intended to represent the surrounding Rocky Mountains. The airport is known for its unique sculptures and artworks located within and on the grounds of the airport.
The airport serves as a hub for United airlines and an operating base for Frontier Airlines and Southwest Airlines. The airport is also served by another 27 airlines that offer flights to cities across North America, Europe and Asia.
The airport features four runways that are designed specifically to account for Denver’s altitude. One main terminal building contains most of the airport’s services and amenities which is connected via an automated people mover to three concourse buildings that contain all 173 gates.
The A Line railway service conveniently connects the airport and Denver Union station in downtown in as little as 37 minutes. Several bus routes are also available connecting the airport to a greater number of areas throughout the city. Taxi and rideshare services are also readily available.
