
New Chitose Airport is an international airport serving the city of Sapporo. The airport is the largest airport on the island of Hokkaido and one six 24hr airports in Japan. The airport ranks within the 5 busiest airports in Japan with the popular Sapporo to Tokyo (Haneda) route the second busiest in the world.
New Chitose Airport features two runways that serve the airports two terminals: the semicircular domestic terminal and the small international terminal. The airport features an extensive range of amenities that include a hotel, museum, shopping center and cinema.
The airport does not serve as a hub for any airlines although it does function as a focus city for All Nippon Airlines and Japan Airlines as well as an operating base for Air Do and Skymark Airlines. CTS is also served by another 43 airlines that offer flights to cities across Japan, Asia, and Australia.
The airport is located in Chitose a city 45km south east from Sapporo. The airport is connected to New Chitose Airport Station which is part of the JR Hokkaido railway network. Trains from the airport can reach the city in as little as 37 minutes on the Rapid Airport Service train.
