Pub Review: The Courthouse Hotel, Newtown, Sydney

The Courthouse Hotel is a pub located a in Newtown, in Sydney’s inner west. Established in 1859, the pub is one of the area’s most popular and is also known as The Courty.

Originally known as the Kingston Lodge Hotel additions were made to the building’s exterior in the 1890s that gave it the Victorian style that still exists today. The pub was also renamed after the suburbs Courthouse which located up the road towards King Street.

The interiors of the pub are rough around the edges with a century full of character which pubs in Sydney could only dream of or have lost due to modernisation.

The pub is known for its expansive, dog friendly beer garden that is one of the best in Sydney.
