
Wattay International Airport is the principal international airport serving the city of Vientiane in Laos. The airport opened in 1999 and is well connected to most cities across Laos and major cities across Asia.
The airport serves as a hub for Lao Airlines and Lao Skyway. The airport is also serviced by another 24 airlines that offer flights to locations across Asia.
The airport features a single runway that serves the airports single terminal building that is split into international and domestic sections. The terminal features a simple design that is adequate for airport of VTE’s size.
The airport is located 3km from the centre of the city in the Sikhottabong district of Vientiane. The airport features a dedicated bus service that takes approximately 40 minutes to reach the city centre. Taxis are also readily available with limited rideshare services also operating out of VTE.
