Mexico City International Airport is the primary airport serving Mexico City and surrounding areas. The airport is the busiest in Mexico, third busiest in Latin America and regularly ranks within the top 50 busiest airports in the world. The airport was named after the 19th-century president of México Benito Juarez who served from 1858 to 1872

MEX serves as a hub for Mexican flag carrier Aeromexico as well as low cost carriers Volaris and Viva. The airport is also served by another 26 airlines that offer flights to over 100 destinations across Mexico, North and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

The airport features two terminals that are serviced by two parallel runways. Due to its location and the number of flights serviced, MEX is one of the busiest two runway airports in the world. Also considered a hot and high airport, due to its location at an elevation of 2,230 metres above sea level, landing and departing at MEX is an interesting experience as planes navigate amongst the densely populated area of Peñón de los Baños which surrounds the airport.

Both terminals service international and domestic flights with terminal 2 home to Aero Mexico and most of its sky team partners. Terminal 2, the newest of the airport’s two terminals, features a distinctive design with the entire terminal building covered in countless small holes. Both terminals feature all the amenities travellers will expect to find at a major international airport of this size.

MEX airport is located in Peñón de los Baños an area of Venustiano Carranza which is part of greater Mexico City. Well connected to the city’s public transportation network you’ll find several options when arriving at MEX. Terminal 1 is connected to Terminal Aerea metro station part of the yellow line 4 on the Mexico City Metro network. Both terminals 1 and 2 are serviced by the city’s extensive metro bus network with line 4 offering a connection to San Lazaro metro station. Official airport taxis and rideshare services are also readily available.
