Airport Review: Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)

Toronto Pearson International Airport is a major international airport that primarily serves the city of Toronto. Due to its size the airport, also serves as the primary gateway for the Golden Horseshoe, a larger area that extends from Toronto to Niagara Falls. The airport is named after Lester B. Pearson the Noble Peace Prize winning, 14th Prime Minister of Canada.

The airport is the largest and busiest airport in Canada, second busiest in terms of international air traffic across North America and continually ranks within the top 30 busiest airports in the world.

The airport is a hub for national carrier Air Canada as well as serving as a hub WestJet and Porter Airlines. The airport is also served by another 57 airlines that offers flights to over 160 cities across Canada, North, Central and South America, Europe, Asia, Oceania and Africa.

YYZ features five runways that service the airports two terminals, terminals 1 and 3. Both terminals cater to both domestic and international flights with terminal 1 serving as the base for Air Canada and its Star Alliance partners and terminal 3 accommodating all other airlines.

The airport is located in Mississauga a city located 23km form downtown Toronto. The airport is serviced by the Union Pearson Express a trains service that transports visitors from the airport to the centrally located Union Station in approximately 25 minutes. Taxis and rideshare services are also readily available, expect the trip to take 30 minutes depending on traffic.
