
Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport is an international airport serving the city of Detroit, Michigan in the United States. The airport has served the city of Detroit and it’s surrounding areas since first opening in 1930 becoming the state of Michigan’s busiest airport.
The airport is a hub for Delta Airlines and an operating base for Spirit Airlines. The airport is also served by another twenty airlines that offer flights to over 140 locations across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The airport features an impressive 6 runaways that service two passenger terminals that feature four concourses and 147 gates. The Edward H. McNamara Terminal is primarily used by Delta and its codeshare partners. The terminal is split across two buildings that are connected via the underground Light Tunnel. Concourse A, the larger of the two buildings that are part of the McNamara Terminal, is also the second longest terminal building in the world. The Warren Cleage Evans Terminal, the newer of the two terminals, is used by all other airlines. A free shuttle bus is available between both terminals.
The airport is located in Romulus, a suburb of Detroit. The airport is located approximately 30km from downtown Detroit. Several bus services operate between the airport and the city with both the
Detroit Air Xpress (DAX) and SMART buses offering a reliable and inexpensive option to visitors. Taxis and rideshare are also available, expect the trip to take approximately 25 minutes.
