Dubai International Airport is the main international airport serving the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The airport is one of the regions busiest airports serving as a popular stopover for passengers on connecting flights.

Due to its central location and its reputation as one of the best airports for connecting flights, DXB continually ranks as the busiest airport in the world for international passenger traffic. It is also the busiest airport in the Middle East and the second-busiest airport in the world by overall passenger traffic. The airport is also the busiest airport for Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 flights.

The airport serves as a hub for Emirates and flydubai with both airlines sharing terminal 3 which is also the third largest building in the world by floor space. Impressively, the airport is also serviced by another 98 airlines that offer flights to over 240 destinations across all six inhabited continents.

Although originally opened in 1960, the current airport resembles very little of the original design having expanded exponentially since first opening. The current airport features three modern terminals that are serviced by two runways. Terminal 1 and 3 are interconnected via common transit area whilst Terminal 2 can be found separately on the opposite of the airport.

The airport is located in the Al Garhoud area of the city approximately 4.7km from the centre of Dubai. Dubai Metro connects the airport to the city via the Red Line in approximately 25 minutes and is the best option for visitors. Buses are also available but expect the trip to take over an hour into the city centre. Taxis and rideshare are also readily available with the trip taking 15-20 minutes.
