Pub Review: Sydney Park Hotel, Newtown, Sydney

The Sydney Park Hotel is a heritage listed pub located in Newtown, a suburb in the inner west of Sydney. Opened in 1891 as the Frankfurt, the pub later became the Frankfort Park Hotel in 1894, the United Hotel 1900, the United Australia Hotel in 1910 before finally becoming the Sydney Park Hotel, named after the nearby park of the same name.

The pub was heavily renovated in 2016 with much of the existing heritage features inspiring the new design. Much of the venue’s interior and exterior classic pub tiles have been preserved with retro-inspired furnishings added to complement the existing vintage aesthetic.

Traditionally more of working-class pub, these days the venue’s crowd is more varied with visitors from all walks of life enjoying the venue’s reinvigorated offerings. The walls of the venue tell the story of the pub and the surrounding area through an assortment of memorabilia.

As the name would suggest, the pub also offers accommodation.  Boutique style accommodation was added to the pub during the recent round of renovations with eight rooms available catering to the different needs of visitors.
