The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel is a multi-purpose venue located at Millers Point in Sydney. The hotel is recognised as being Sydney’s oldest hotel having operated at the same site since 1831 and has been a part of the New South Wales State Heritage Register since 1999.
When the hotel was acquired in 1986 by its current owners, an extensive renovation took place restoring much of the venue’s historic features. The renovation also added a microbrewery to the hotel cellar that produces much of the ales that are served in the bar. Most of the beers you’ll find on tap are brewed on site with a menu full of Australian pub classics also available.
Over its long history and numerous ownership changes, the hotel has managed to maintain much of its old-world charm. The unpolished wooden floors and sandstone walls of the front bar are timeless and are one best examples of old colonial regency pub architecture that can be found in Sydney. The sandstone blocks used to build the hotel are believed to have originated from nearby Observatory Hill.
The pub also offers accommodation with eight rooms that are a perfect blend of old and new available for guests wishing to stay within the historic Rocks area of Sydney.
