The Wooly Bay Hotel is pub located in Woolloomooloo, an inner-city suburb of Sydney. The original pub to occupy the site was the Nell Gwynne Hotel opening in 1873.
The pub was rebuilt in 1922 reopening as the Macquarie Hotel. During the 1970s and 1980s the pub was popular with sailors and was known colloquially as “the Rock n’ Roll.”
The pub was extensively renovated in 2022 converting the old school pub into a Mediterranean inspired multi-level mixed use venue that features a ground floor front bar, second level restaurant and rooftop bar with city views.
