Cafe Riche is a historic bar located in downtown Cairo. The bar is known to have been the meeting place for intellectuals and revolutionaries at various times throughout Egyptian history.

Opened in 1908, and given its current name by its original French owner in 1914, the cafe doesn’t appear to have changed since. The current owners are intent on maintaining old world charm recognising the importance the cafe has at several key points in the country’s history.

You can probably find better cafes and restaurants around the city but few can claim the history that has taken place with the walls of Cafe Riche. Perfect place to escape the chaos of downtown Cairo for a quick drink.
