Pub Review: The Kimberly Hotel, Cape Town

The Kimberly Hotel is a historic pub and hotel located in Cape Town, South Africa. The pub is the city’s third oldest having opened in 1895.

Historically the pub was the starting point for horse drawn carriages that were heading to the diamond mines in Kimberly, a city in the Northern Cape known for its mining industry. These days the pub caters to a varied crowd who congregate in the saloon style front bar which is covered in various pieces of memorabilia that retell the history of the city.

The pub still offers 12 budget friendly hotel rooms located above the lower-level bar that caters mostly to backpackers.
