The Harvey Wallbanger is a vodka based cocktail that is seen as one of the more popular variants of the classic screwdriver.

Th cocktail was invented in 1969 by the McKesson Imports Company as a way to promote one of their imports, Galliano vanilla liqueur. Marketing campaigns for the drink included a wide-eyed surfer cartoon character of the same name. The drink would become increasingly popular in the United States during the 1970s.

The Harvey Wallbanger is essentially a screwdriver with the addition of Galliano. Be sure to float the Galliano on top in order to savour the distinctive taste of the vanilla liqueur with each sip.

Ingredients

• Vodka
• Galliano
• Orange juice
• 1 orange
• 1 maraschino cherry

Preparation

1. Add ice to a Collins glass
2. Add the vodka and orange juice and stir
3. Float the Galliano on top
4. Garnish with a piece of orange and a maraschino cherry
