Casino Review: The Star, Sydney

The Star is a hotel and casino located in Sydney. Opened in 1995 as Sydney’s first and only casino, at the time, with the Star casino brand expanding over the next 30 years to include additional properties in Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

Upon opening the casino featured a unique design that had a sense of place and overall better representation of the city it’s located in. Most of this design was stripped away when the casino was heavily renovated in the late 2000s. The elaborate entrance on Pirrama Road was replaced by an unremarkable wall of glass that is a pretty accurate representation of casino design at the time.

Currently, the casino features two gaming floors, the expansive main floor which greets most visitors and the upper-level high stakes Sovereign Room. You’ll find ten different restaurants and five unique bars spread throughout the casino that cater to differing budgets whilst serving a wide ride of different cuisines.

Over 350 hotel rooms and 130 serviced apartments are available with many featuring excellent views of the Sydney skyline and surrounding waterways. The venue is also capable of hosting a variety of year-round entertainment across the 2,000 seat Sydney Lyric and 3,000 seat Star Events Centre located on the upper level.
