Arena Guide: Honda Center, Anaheim

Honda Center is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Anaheim, California. The arena opened in 1993 and features a capacity of 17,174 that is capable of expanding to 18,900 depending on the event. The arena is most commonly associated as the home of the NHL hockey team Anaheim Ducks.

Originally known as Anaheim Arena, the venue was built in the early 1990s and would go on to accommodate the newly established Mighty Ducks hockey team. The arena would later become the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim in a clever naming rights deal between Arrowhead Water, the arena and the Ducks.

The arena features a 1990s style postmodern design with a sand and teal coloured exterior encircled by over 100 palm trees. On the inside you’ll find spacious concourses covered in 200,000 square feet of lavish marble. The symmetrical seating bowl feels far mor intimate than most arenas of a similar size with a maximum distance of 25 metres from the furthest seat and the arena floor.

Despite its age, the arena is still as an excellent venue for hosting sporting and entertainment events. The grand terrace was added in 2013 to the front of the arena increasing the venue’s footprint and including additional spaces for dinning and retail. The proposed OC Vibe mixed-use development is expected to further enhance the arena’s offerings as it begins construction in the area surrounding Honda Centre.

If visiting from Orange County your best option is to utilise one of the many on site parking spaces located around the arena. If visiting from Los Angeles or San Diego, Amtrak and Metrolink train services arrive and depart from the nearby Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC).
