How to Visit Manly Beach in Sydney

Manly beach is a picturesque beach located in Manly on the Northern beaches of Sydney. Its unique location and close proximity to Sydney has made it one of the city’s best and most accessible beaches.

The beach features a two-kilometre curved stretch of sand lined by the areas signature Norfolk pine trees. This famous stretch of golden sand is actually three beaches in one with the southern half known as South Styne Beach and the northern half featuring North Styne and Queenscliff Beach. The southern half is preferable for swimming with the northern half better suited for surfing.

Manly Beach was also the location of the world’s first ever surfing tournament in 1964. The area still has a strong surfing culture with its famous waves popular with both experienced and beginner surfers.

The areas towering pine trees provide excellent natural shade across the entirety of the beach front promenade have made it a popular walkway for visitors and locals. The beach is also conveniently located across from the Corso pedestrian mall making it easy for visitors to explore the areas many dining and retails options.

You can reach Manly beach from Sydney using one of the city’s many ferry services departing from Circular Quay. The trip takes approximately 18-30 minutes and is one of the city’s most scenic ferry routes passing both the Opera House and Harbour Bridge before reaching Harbour Beach in Manly. From there, it’s just a short seven-minute walk along the Corso from the ferry terminal to Manly Beach.
