Surly’s American Tavern is a bar located in Surry Hills, an inner-city suburb of Sydney. Since opening in 2015, Surly’s has offered visitors the most authentic American style bar experience in Sydney.

The bar claims to offer an authentic slice of Nashville but it could easily represent most bars found across the United States, and that’s a great thing. Neon beer signs cover the exposed brick walls of the lower level with a row of stools lining the well-stocked, wood-panelled bar while a number of flat screens play a mix of American sports on loop.

The upper level of Surly’s, or Smokey’s Cabin as it’s known, offers a different experience, almost feeling like a completely different bar in and of itself. Most of this part of the bar is appropriately wood panelled with a row of booths perfectly rounding out the American bar theme.

The menu offers a classic selection of American favourites with a range of tasty burgers, fried chicken and barbecued meats to choose from. Classic and house cocktails are available to wash it all down with refreshing American beers also available on tap.
