TRIP Rod Laver Arena is a multipurpose arena located at Melbourne Park, Melbourne. Primarily used as the main venue for the yearly Australian Open, the arena is also a popular concert and performing venue.

TAP Opened in 1988 to serve as centre court for the annual Australian Open tennis tournament — the first grand slam of the tennis calendar. The arena, named in honour of Australian tennis great Rod Laver, has been used every year since its opening, hosting some of the world’s greatest tennis players. With a seating capacity of 14,820 spread over two symmetrical tiers, visitors are guaranteed an excellent view regardless of where they’re seated.

Rod Laver Arena is also a popular concert venue capable of accommodating 16,800 visitors. The go-to venue for both local and international performers, Rod Laver Arena has established itself as Melbourne’s top indoor arena. Lengthy refurbishments to the arena were completed in 2018, increasing the size of public spaces as well as the  modernising of the arena’s retractable roof. Although the recent refurbishments will ensure the arena’s usefulness for years to come, the design chosen for the project leaves a lot to be desired.

GO Rod Laver Arena is located within walking distance of the Melbourne CBD. Tickets for the Australian Open can be purchased directly from the tournament’s official website. Check the official Rod Laver Arena website for a detailed list of all upcoming events.
