Stadium Review: Fenway Park, Boston

Fenway Park is a baseball stadium located in Boston. Originally built in 1912, the stadium features a maximum capacity of 37,755. The stadium is the oldest stadium that is currently used in Major League Baseball. The stadium has been the long-time home of the Boston Red Sox since opening.

The stadium is unique amongst baseball stadiums in the United States as it feels much more integrated into the surrounding area due to its architecture and design. Fenway Park is one of two jewel box styles baseball stadiums in Major League Baseball along with Wrigley Field in Chicago.

One of the stadium’s most recognisable features is the Green Monster, a nickname given to the stadium’s left field wall. Due to the stadium’s age, there are a number of seats with obstructed views within the stadium so be sure to keep that in mind when buying tickets.

Apart from baseball, the stadium has also hosted boxing, association football, American football, professional wrestling and hockey. The stadium became a popular concert venue in the 21st century hosting at least one concert per year.

Parking around the station is limited so be sure to use public transport or taxi/rideshare when heading to the stadium. Lansdowne Station is located directly across from the stadium is accessible via the city’s Commuter Rail network. Kenmore Station is another option within walking distance of the stadium and is accessible via MBTA Green Line.
