Train Station Guide: Union Station, Washington DC

Union Station is main train station serving the city of Washington DC. The station is the second busiest across Amtrak’s national network and 13th busiest across North America.

The station serves as the southern terminus for the northeastern corridor, a system of railways that extends through major cities on the east of the United States. 

Union Station is an intermodal transportation hub, serving as a juncture for many of the city’s transportations options. Travellers can connect to MARC and VRE commuter rail services, the Washington Metro, the DC street car, intercity bus services and local metro buses.

Be sure to arrive early before the departure of your train to explore some of the station’s public areas. The station’s design was inspired by a number of classic architectural styles and utilised a number of expensive materials in its construction like marble, granite and gold leaf. The station is one of the best designed in United States befitting of city full of impressive monuments.
