
The Chiba Urban Monorail network is a suspended railway network located in Chiba, Japan. The system opened in 1988 and currently spans a distance of 15.2 km making it the longest suspended railway network in the world.
The network features two lines with both beginning at Chiba-Minato Station. From this station you can reach Kenchō-mae Station on line 1 and Chishirodai Station on line 2.
The network serves as an important part of the city’s public transportation network. The system is also popular with tourists due the unique nature of its construction.
If visiting via train from Tokyo, expect the trip to take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Chiba-Minato Station you can easily transfer to the monorail. The Chiba Urban Monorail accepts PASMO and Suica cards.
