La Gruta is a unique restaurant located San Juan Teotihuacan in Mexico State. The restaurant is famous being located within a volcanic cave.

The restaurant features a menu full of traditional Mexican dishes that utilise pre-Hispanic cooking techniques and the best of local ingredients. Dishes feature impressive presentation and served by attentive waitstaff.

Once you finish your meal, a waiter will invite you to light a candle and place it amongst other candles along the stairs that lead out of the cave. The gesture is meant to symbolise rebirth and a great way to finish your experience at La Gruta.

The restaurant is located in San Juan Teotihuacan approximately 45 km from Mexico City. If visiting after a trip the Pyramids you’ll find La Gruta located a short distance from gate 5 of the Teotihuacan Archaeological site behind the Pyramid of the Sun.
