Stadium Guide: SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles

SoFi Stadium is a multipurpose stadium located in Inglewood, a southwestern city of Los Angeles. The stadium opened in 2020 and features a fixed capacity of 70,240 that can be expanded to 100,240 for special events. The stadium features a fixed roof with a unique indoor/outdoor design which has been recognised with several awards upon opening.

The stadium was built on the former site of the Hollywood Park Racetrack. The venue sits at the centre of the new Hollywood Park mixed use entertainment complex that is expected to grow significantly over the coming years.

The main stadium is one part of a wider entertainment venue that includes the American Airlines public plaza and the 6,000 seat YouTube theatre. All three areas are covered by a translucent canopy that is capable of displaying images and video across its large surface area. The stadium’s most impressive feature, however, is the Infinity Screen a doubled sided video board that weights 1,000 tonnes and is capable of displaying 80 million pixels.

The stadium is primarily used as the shared home ground of the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers. The stadium hosted Super Bowl LVI in 2022 where the Rams became only the second team to win at their home stadium. The stadium is due to host its second Super Bowl in 2027.

The stadium is also used for association football and is expected to host eight matches at the 2026 World Cup including the opening match of co-host the United States. The venue is also expected to host the opening and closing ceremonies at the 2028 Olympic Games as well as the swimming program with a planned capacity of 38,000.

SoFi Stadium is located in Inglewood approximately 20km from downtown Los Angeles. If you intend to drive to the stadium, parking spaces need to be purchased in advance from one of the approximately 10,000 spaces on site. If using public transportation, shuttle buses are available departing regularly from Los Angeles Metro Rail’s Hawthorne/Lennox station on the C Line and Downtown Inglewood station on the K Line. Rideshare is also available but expect long wait times and high prices at the event of events.
