The Criterion Hotel is a pub located on busy corner of Pitt and Park streets in the centre of Sydney’s CBD.
The pub was constructed on the land formerly occupied by the criterion theatre which was demolished in 1935 when Park Street was widened. The pub was constructed in the inter war architectural style and features many of the style’s popular features across its elaborate facade.
Although the exteriors of the pub have remained virtually unchanged, the interiors have been heavily renovated. The front bar has become a sports bar and features some of the brightest screens you’ll find in Sydney. The lower level has been converted into a P.J. Gallaghers Irish pub which feels like its own separate pub.
