Met Life Stadium is a multipurpose sports venue located in Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The stadium features a capacity of 82,500 and is primarily known as the home ground of two NFL teams, the New York Giants and New York Jets.
The stadium opened in 2010 and was built to replace a similarly sized, better-looking Giants Stadium which was located in the same parking lot as the current venue. As is always the case with stadiums that are shared by more than one team, and serve several distinct purposes, the stadium features an ordinary, one size fits all design.
The stadium was also designed with association football in mind, hosting several important international and club matches since its opening. As a result, and in addition to hosting five group stage matches, one Round of 32 match, and one Round of 16 match, the stadium is expected to host the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The stadium is also a popular concert venue, featuring as the de facto choice for stadium-sized bands when visiting the New Jersey/New York area.
The stadium is located approximately 8km from New York City. The best way to reach the stadium from New York City is via the NJ Transit Meadowlands Rail Events Line which operates between Pennsylvania Station and Hoboken Terminal (Secaucus Junction) and on to Meadowlands Station. From Hoboken Terminal (Secaucus Junction) you’ll also find connecting services to Newark and other lines on the New Jersey rail network.
