Bar Review: Jam Record Bar, Sydney

Jam Record Bar is a newly-opened, Japanese-inspired bar located within Merivale’s Ivy precinct on George Street in Sydney’s CBD. The bar is inspired by listening bars found across Tokyo and brings the tastes and sounds of this unique concept to the centre of Sydney.

The interior of the bar is bare bones with everything seemingly made of pink coloured plywood. This design choice is clever and must have been intentional to not detract from the bar’s main feature: vinyl. Jam boasts an impressive collection of 15,000 vinyl records that cover most of the walls of the small bar.

Expect to hear everything from classics to more obscure titles played through the bars vintage JBL sound system.  Records are chosen and played by the bar’s multitasking bar tenders in between dishing out delicious cocktails and snacks from the bar’s Japanese inspired menu.
