The Old Fitzroy Hotel is a multipurpose venue located in Woolloomooloo, an inner-city suburb of Sydney. The venue is over 150 years old and has featured a pub, bistro and theatre for much of its existence.
The hotel offers a number of distinct areas that cater to the venue’s varied crowd. The front bar, with its creaky, carpeted floors, exposed brick and tin ceiling, is a well-worn space that’s full of character. The upstairs bistro area is a more polished area with white tablecloths, mirrors and chandeliers and a French inspired menu to match. Outdoor seating is also available out front with the venue’s signature stripped umbrellas and the local area’s towering trees offering perfect cover for visitors.
The Old Fitzroy Hotel is also the only remaining theatre pub in Australia, regularly featuring some of the more interesting productions that can be found in Sydney within its 60-seat theatre. The theatre is known to feature young and emerging artists from independent productions many of which have gone on to enjoy successful careers.
