Bar Review: Long Bar, Singapore

The Long Bar is a world-renowned bar located within the historic Raffles Hotel in Singapore. The bar is synonymous with the hotel and has been part of the city’s social life for over 100 years.

It was at the Long Bar where the world-famous Singapore Sling cocktail, Singapore’s national cocktail, was invented by bartender Ngiam Tong Boon in 1915. The bar still serves excellent Singapore Slings, using the same 100-year-old recipe, which you can enjoy alongside a complimentary bag of peanuts.

Like the rest of the hotel, the Long Bar oozes old-world charm with a timeless design that features some of the best elements of the British Colonial style that was popular at the time of its construction. Visitors can choose to take a seat at one of the bars many rattan lounge chairs or on a stool at the centrally place mahogany bar as you’re cooled by the old timey ceiling fans oscillating above you.

Trying a Singapore sling when visiting Singapore is a must and there’s no better place than where it all began at the Raffle Hotel’s Long Bar.
