

Nissan Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in Yokohama, Japan. Opened in 1998, the stadium has been the largest stadium in Japan since opening with a capacity of 72,327. The stadium is the home ground of Yokohama F. Marinos and select matches of the Japanese football team. The stadium is also known as International Stadium Yokohama when used for international sporting events.
The stadium opened in 1998 after a long design and construction process throughout most of the 1990s. The stadium features a functional design typical of stadiums built during the late 1990s and early 2000s. The interior of the stadium features two tiers of seating the circle the length of the stadium. The stadium also features a running track serving as the country’s principal athletics venue until the opening of the rebuilt National Stadium in Tokyo at the end of 2019.
Over its 26-year history, Nissa Stadium has been the centrepiece for many international sporting events. The stadium hosted four matches at the 2002 World Cup including the final between Brazil and Germany. Seven matches were also held at Nissan Stadium during the 2019 Rugby World Cup including the final between South Africa and England. The stadium also hosted the majority of the football program at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics including both the men’s and women’s gold medal match.
Nissan Stadium is located approximately 30km from Tokyo and 15km from Yokohama. You can reach the stadium quite easily using the Shinkansen’s JR Yokohama Line, the Yokohama Municipal Subway using Shin-Yokohama Station or alighting at Kozukue Station on the JR Yokohama Line.
