Mac’s Club Deuce is a bar located in Miami Beach, Florida. Having opened in 1926, the near 100-year-old bar is considered to be Miami’s oldest.
The bar was purchased by Mac Klein, a WWII veteran and a regular at the old Club Deuce. Apart from adding his name to the bar, very little would change under Mac’s ownership as he would continue to work behind the bar until passing away at the age of 101 in 2016.
In the 1980s, Mac’s was known to attract an eclectic mix of visitors with people from all walks of life sitting shoulder to shoulder around its curved bar. The bar also featured as a location in the episode ‘Hard Knocks’ from season five of Miami Vice. Mac’s still looks exactly how you’d expect a bar from 1980s Miami to look like: Neon-lit, wall to wall mirrors, cigarette smoke and cash only!
Mac’s Club Deuce is the definition of if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it; a part of old school Miami that refuses to change as much of the rest of the city is continually changing around it.
