
George Best Belfast City Airport is a small airport that services the city of Belfast in Northern Ireland. The airport opened in 1983 as Belfast City Airport and was renamed in 2006 to honor Northern Irish footballer George Best.
BHD is the smaller of Belfast’s two airports handling mostly flights within Ireland and the United Kingdom. The city’s other airport, Belfast International Airport is located further out from the city and serves a wider range of international destinations.
The airport is a hub for Aer Lingus and another six airlines that serve 22 destinations across Ireland, the United Kingdom and Europe. The airport features a single runway and a medium-sized terminal building that features all the facilities common of an airport of this size.
BHD is located 3km from the Belfast City Centre which can be reached in as littles as five minutes via a private airport transfer. Public transportation options are also available to visitors with the Airport Express 600 bus and the NI Railways train both quick and efficient methods to reach the Belfast City Center.
