Stadium Review: Estadio Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez, Panama City

Estadio Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez is a multi-purpose stadium located in Panama City. The stadium was built in 1970 and currently features a maximum seating capacity of 23,000. The stadium is the home ground for the Panamanian National Football team and club team Tauro F.C.

The stadium was originally named Estadio Revolucion before it renamed in honour of Panamanian football star Rommel Fernández. Major Renovations in 2009 and 2023 modernized the stadium with new exterior façade, updated public areas and an increased capacity.

The stadium features a running track and two tiers that run the length of the seating bowl. Despite the distance between the stands and pitch, the atmosphere crated by fans during big matches, especially those featuring the Panamanian national team is some of the best you’ll find in Central America.

The stadium is located within the Irving Saladino Sports Park an Eastern area of Panama City that also contains Roberto Duran Arena and the Eileen Coparropa swimming pool. When heading to an event at the stadium allow for extra time due to the city’s intense afternoon traffic.
