Pub Review: Hyde Park House, Darlinghurst, Sydney

Hyde Park House is a multi-purpose venue located in Darlinghurst, just east of Sydney’s CBD. A pub has occupied the site of the current venue in different forms and under different names since 1870.

The Plumbers Arms was the first venue to occupy the site of Hyde Park House before it was burnt to the ground. The New Zealand Hotel was built in its place until its demolition in 1917. The current venue was built in 1919 in federation style architecture which had remain virtually unchanged over 100 years later.

Heavily renovated in 2016 the lower-level, front bar was restored and is classic old school Sydney. Slims Rooftop was added to level 3 and takes full advantage of its location offering visitors some of the best views of Sydney’s skyline.
