The New Commercial Hotel is a heritage listed pub located in Liverpool, a suburb in the western suburbs of Sydney.
The pub dates back to 1898 and is the only remaining example of a classic Australian-style veranda pub that can be found in Liverpool. In the late 1800s Liverpool was full of similar style pubs most of which have since been demolished or remodelled.
Unfortunately, the pub has seen better days with the front of the venue in severe disrepair and the entire front section of the building closed to the public, including the second level veranda. All you’ll find open at the moment is poker machine room and semi outdoor ‘sports bar’ which is accessed via the side of the building.
There are plans to build 23 story office tower behind the pub which according to renders available online appears to preserve the historic hotel in its design.
